Exercise for Everyone

Water, water everywhere!!! It’s not April showers - it’s The Powell Wellness Center in Culpeper, Virginia and their incredible Turttle Pool, lap lanes, exercise pods, therapy pool, and hot tub! Now you have your choice of workout venues! If you enjoy stationery bikes, treadmills, top-of-the line weight equipment then The Powell Wellness Center (PWC) makes that available. Grab your sneakers and your water bottle and enjoy the group fitness classes such cycling, body pump, and yoga lead by excellent fitness instructors! Snow and ice stand aside - now you can reap the benefits of water all year long. If you have dreamed of exercising in the water grab your swim suit and water shoes (available in the PWC pro-shop) and take a walk (or jog) in PWC’s Turttle Pool which is a circular track filled with 3 1/2 feet of water with a constant currant. If you’ve never experienced a workout like this you are in for quite a treat! Exercising in the water is like play time to me and you can work muscle groups that you didn’t know you had! Once you’ve completed a couple of laps in the Turttle Pool, you may also want to do some Deep Water exercise in the Therapy Pool - an incredible way to exercise your legs and hips in a way that is unmatched by any land exercise. To spice up your exercise routine try one of the group water classes such as Splash Power, H2O Burn and Kickboxing! You’ll exercise to great music, make new friends, and get a great cardio and endurance workout! (I’ve heard the Splash Power classes at 5:30 on Monday and Wednesday nights are the place to be!) I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by the Powell Wellness Center for a visit - you’ll be glad you did…Great Exercise Environment, Great Friends, Great Health!!!

Local Auction ~ Art of the Hunt

Incredible finds, wonderful experiences and good people can all be found at the Culpeper Auction Center located in Culpeper, Virginia! Make a date to attend one of the auctions ~ it will be well worth your time! You'll feel like you've stepped back in time when you enter this auction house. Plan on arriving early so that you can register to bid and peruse the items that will be coming up for bid. Once the bidding begins the cadence of the Auctioneer's "call" will draw you in and keep your attention as you watch him present the items up for bid. You will be amazed at the dollar amount that some items bring and the incredible deal captured by others. For example, where else could you purchase a round antique mahogany pedestal table for $35.00, a set of 4 Clore walnut ladderback rush bottom chairs in mint condition for $110 each, a double pedestal dropleaf Duncan Phyfe table for $70.00 and my own personal treasure a Smith American pump organ for $30.00?! Even though every one of the attendees has the potential to bid against you on the items that you want, there is a certain camraderie amongst the crowd. In addition to having a great time expect to learn a lot about collectibles as the "regulars" are generous with their knowledge. While you are enjoying the bidding, meeting some truly nice people, you can take care of your hunger with the delicious ham biscuits, chicken salad sandwiches, vegetable beef stew or incredible desserts available for sale. Save up your nickels (or dollars) and keep an eye on www.culpeperauction.com for upcoming auctions held at the Culpeper Auction Center which is located at 12282 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA. See you there!!!!
